Our Commitment to People, Planet, and Product

At OBRI Africa, we are redefining the future of agriculture and food systems through a focused, sustainable business model. Our core product—Organic sunflower cooking oil—is produced in partnership with smallholder farmers in Africa, ensuring both nutritional value for consumers and economic empowerment for farmers.
Our operations are built around the real-world implementation of key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that drive long-term impact in both rural economies and global food systems.

Goal 1

No poverty

Eradicating poverty is fundamental to building sustainable communities. Through our partnership with smallholder sunflower farmers, we’re creating sustainable income opportunities for rural communities—empowering farmers, uplifting families, and strengthening local economies. At OBRI Africa, we believe that agriculture can—and must—be a force for equity. That's why we’re pledging our full commitment to to end Poverty, by transforming the way food is grown, sold, and consumed in Africa.

Our strategy is simple but powerful: empower smallholder sunflower farmers, make healthy food accessible to all, and build a regenerative agriculture model that puts more income directly into the pockets of the people who grow our food by buying directly from our farmers.

Zero Hunger

Food security is a human right. We champion sustainable agriculture, food waste reduction, and improved supply chains to ensure access to nutritious food for all.

We’re redefining how food systems work—starting from the soil and ending at the table. Our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger is rooted in empowering farmers, restoring land, and making healthy, organic, and affordable food accessible to everyone. We believe Zero Hunger is not just a moral goal—it’s a business imperative, and it’s achievable with the right systems in place.

Good Health and Well-being

We believe that health is the foundation of a strong society. We process sunflower oil close to farming communities, reducing waste, creating jobs, and keeping nutrition within reach of local populations. Malnutrition takes many forms: undernutrition, micronutrient deficiency, and poor diet quality. We're addressing all three through food that is nutritionally dense, culturally appropriate, and affordable.

Gender Equality

At OBRI Africa, we believe that sustainable agriculture starts with equal opportunity, and that means putting women farmers at the center of progress. We recognize that true sustainability is not possible without gender equality. That’s why we are fully committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, with a dedicated focus on supporting women sunflower farmers. We’re working to remove the systemic barriers that keep women in agriculture from reaching their full potential, starting with secure access to land and extending through training on regenerative practices, input support, and direct market access.
We’re not just closing the gender gap in farming—we’re unlocking untapped potential across rural communities.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Sustainable growth must be inclusive, equitable, and dignified. We advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and job opportunities, especially to young people who prioritize long-term development.

Real Impact: Our work with smallholder farmers not only boosts agricultural productivity but also fosters dignified work, gender inclusion, and entrepreneurial growth to youth in rural areas, strengthening livelihoods from the ground up.

Responsible Consumption and Production

We’re transforming the way we produce and consume. Through circular economy practices, eco-friendly product design, and responsible sourcing, we reduce our environmental footprint.

Conscious Choices: Our cooking oil production process emphasizes sustainability, responsibly sourced sunflower seeds, minimal waste by turning our sunflower seed cake into healthy animal feed, and affordable nutrition delivered ethically to our consumers.

Through our work in sunflower farming and sustainable food production, we are proud to advance Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action and play a leading role in the transformation of food systems and agriculture across Africa.

We believe the future of African agriculture and food systems must be climate-smart, decentralized, low-waste, and farmer-led—and we’re building it step by step.
